Ken Jonnston, Chair

Ken is a proud Caper who graduated from St. F.X. with a B.Ed in 1971 . He arrived in Pictou with his wife Janet who continued her nursing career while he began his 31 year teaching career at Dr. Thomas McCulloch . Ken and Janet have two daughters who are presently in the nursing and teaching professions and who have blessed them with four sweet grandchildren .

Kora Hanrahan, Vice Chair

Kora Hanrahan moved to Pictou from Newfoundland in 2002 to continue her dental career at Shiretown Dental Clinic with her partner and husband Ed Hawkins. They have made Pictou their home working side by side and raising 2 children.  They feel fortunate to have been embraced by such a wonderful community and have been inspired to contribute to the growth of Pictou County.

Sheila Currie, Treasurer

Sheila emigrated to Canada in 1957 and taught in the Pictou school system for thirty years. She and her husband raised two daughters and have three grandkids whom they adore.

Paula Beer-Eligh, Secretary

Paula moved back to her hometown in 2003 after spending  her working years in and around Fredericton, New Brunswick, retiring from the position of Branch Manager, SISIP Financial Services, CFB Gagetown, Oromocto.  Since happily settling in Pictou, she has volunteered for a number of worthwhile organizations over the years.

Gordon Barnes, Director

Gord is from St. John’s, where, after getting his training at a local C.A. firm, he worked in the retail industry most of his professional career. After retirement he moved to Pictou County and in 2021 he married Beth MacDonald, a local lady from Pictou. He is a constant volunteer being treasurer of various groups and associations.

Stacey Dlamini, Director

Stacey has a background in project management and community development, and has worked in and led not-for-profit organizations in South Africa and Canada. She resides in Pictou with her husband Buhle and is a mom to four wonderful young people. She is pleased to be able to contribute to positive health outcomes in the community she calls home.

David Fulmore, Director

David has been a resident of Pictou since 1987. He and his wife opened Fulmore’s PharmaChoice in 1996 ,which they continue to operate to this day. He is very pleased to be able to serve on the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, which helps fund many projects in their community. 

Krista Fulton, Director

Krista, from the Town of Pictou, resides here with her husband and daughter. They are a fisher family and own and operate a small business. She is honoured to be part of the Foundation which contributes to the healthiness and happiness of our wonderful community.

Angie Scanlan, Director

Angie is a paralegal with a local law firm. She was born and raised in Pictou. After attending university in New Brunswick, she returned to her hometown and never looked back. She volunteered for many years with the Pictou Lobster Carnival, bringing a weekend of fun filled entertainment to the residents of Pictou every July.

Jeff Gunn, Director

Jeff has a background in team management (agriculture and tourism), and has been involved in many community organizations and boards in Pictou County. Jeff believes strongly in being involved in his community to make it a better place to live and work. Jeff and his partner Valerie, have four children and live in Scotsburn.

Murray Porter, Member, Finance Committee (non-voting)

Murray has owned and operated several small businesses in Pictou and surrounding areas for over 40 years. He believes in giving back to his community and is honored to have served the SHMHF Board as Director and past Chair. At the moment, Murray serves as the liaison between the Board the firm that manages its investment portfolio. He and his wife live in Braeshore. They have one son and two wonderful grandchildren.

Pauline Marks, Director

Pauline was born and raised in Pictou and now resides in Lyons Brook with her husband Robbie and two children Brennan and Olivia. Pauline attended St Francis Xavier University and completed her Dietetic Internship at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

She is presently the Director of Support Services & Dietitian at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow.

“Being a member of this Board,  allows me the privilege to be involved in the vital role that the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital provides to our community that I have always called Home.”

Clare Steele, Director

Clare Steele was born and raised in Pictou and is the Active Communities Coordinator for the Municipality of Pictou County. Clare is passionate about life in Pictou County and making our beautiful corner of the world a healthier place to live and play. In her spare time Clare can be found teaching yoga, paddling, or on a hiking trail with a couple of four-legged sidekicks

Brady Landry, Director

Brady Landry was born and raised in Pictou and now resides in Lyons Brook with his family. Brady attended Acadia University and Dalhousie University, both to study business. After university, Brady moved home to Pictou County. Brady is currently the Vice President, Financial Analysis and Treasury at Crombie REIT.  Brady also serves on the Board of Fundy Highland Female Hockey Association.
