Bright Smiles

The Bright Smiles Project is an initiative of the Pictou County Mental Illness Family Support Association.

The funding was used to allow access to dental services for adults living with a documented mental illness, who lack the financial resources to access much needed services. It includes an exam, x-rays, cleaning, treatment services like extractions and fillings, dental surgery, partial and full dentures for those we have removed teeth, and help to offset cost of transportation if needed.

Dental services are very expensive and out of reach for the participants of the Bright Smiles Project. The funding allows us to cover the cost of restoring their oral health to an acceptable level. They are pain free, infection free, have their broken and decayed teeth removed or fixed and able to eat properly. It does wonders for their self esteem, reduces stigma and gives them a reason to smile.
